Candy colours and Sixties silhouettes take centre stage at Kate Spade's New York Fashion Week presentation

Kate Spade is known for her bright colours and bold prints, and for spring/summer 13, the label looks to have given its signature style a retro spin.
Models in wide-brim floppy hats, white shades and gleaming quiffs struck their poses among scaffolding for the label's New York Fashion Week presentation today.
The Fifties and Sixties are where head designer Deborah Lloyd seems to have taken her style lead, effortlessly mixing neon pinks and yellows with pastel mint and graphic monochrome.

Indeed such contrasts would have looked a mess at the hand of a less experienced designer, but Ms Lloyd knows her aesthetic well, and masters the clashing hues like the pro she is.
Of course, it certainly didn't hurt that the show was styled by Rachel Zoe's former assistant Brad Goreski - not only a respected stylist in his own right now, but also a reality star.
Uncompromisingly feminine, waists were worn high and slung with slim leather belts.
Lace sweaters were teamed with floral prints, while bow motifs and Peter Pan collars made for cuter-than-cute finishing touches.

The inspiration for the collection, Ms Lloyd told the LA Times, was 'things we love'.
She says she referenced the Ormond Gigli photograph, Girls in Windows, as well as flowers of all varieties, something she has long loved.
'I would have been a florist if I hadn't become a designer,' she admitted.

Of course, this being Kate Spade, accessories played a major role. Clutches came in the shape of radios and sunglasses, while day bags were at the smaller end of the scale with long straps and classic boxy shapes.
Models' wrists and even fingers had lacquered sunglasses and bows adorning them, while shoes, all at towering heights, included strappy patent sandals and dapper peep-toe brogues.
Though Pippa Middleton is a fan of the label - she has been toting a wicker Kate Spade bag around New York all week - she didn't make an appearance at the presentation.

It was attended by Lauren Conrad, however, who arrived in a dress from the label's brand new collaboration with French fashion blogger Garance Dore.
Jamie Chung was also among the stars present, carrying an updated version of Miss Middleton's bag in buttery black-and-taupe leather.
